Healthy Foods To Eat While You’re Sick

Do you often fall ill? Or are you one of those people that feel down almost every moment? Here is a list of some super healthy foods that will boost your immune system and leave you feeling sound while taking your medication:

1) NOODLE:

Get any tasty, healthy noodle you can find and prepare to your taste. Take it as often as you can while on medication. You should feel good.

2) GARLIC:

Garlic contains a large amount of allicin which is a sulfur-containing compound that keeps our immune system stronger. You can consume it raw or add it to your dishes.

3) CITRUS FRUITS:

Citrus fruits contain vitamin-C that fights colds and flu. Include citrus fruits in your diet such as oranges grapefruit, and lemons, tangerine etc.

4) BROCCOLI:

Broccoli is loaded with minerals, vitamins A, E and C, and plenty of antioxidants that will always keep you healthy. There should be no reason why you shouldn’t take this regularly while on and off medication.

5) SWEET POTATO:

Sweet potatoes include beta-carotene, which converts into vitamin A in your body. It helps in stimulating your immune system and is also a tasty meal which can stir up your taste buds.

6) SPINACH:

Add more spinach in your food. It is rich in vitamin C, has beta-carotene, and many antioxidants. Raw spinach or slightly cooked as possible is the best to eat because it contains the most nutrients.

7) BUTTON MUSHROOMS:

Button mushrooms not only have vitamin B, niacin and riboflavin which boosts your immune system, they also have selenium. In case you don’t include it in your food you could be vulnerable to getting a really bad flu especially now we have a cold weather.

8) FERMENTED FOODS:

Fermented foods like olives, miso, yogurt and pickles boost the good bacteria where your immune system is (your gut) and increase the production of antibodies. So, don’t forget to add fermented foods into your nutritional therapy to keep your immune system powerful.

9) WATERMELON:

Eat the red flesh near the rind to get the most of it. Watermelon comprises an antioxidant glutathione that enhances your immune system. It has a high water content which helps to keep you (especially your skin) hydrated.

10) RED BELL PEPPERS:

When you think vitamin C, citrus fruits strike in your mind. But you will be surprised to know that the red bell peppers have twice as much vitamin C as you find in citrus. Red bell peppers are also a source of beta-carotene so don’t forget to add to your meals.

11) CHICKEN SOUP:

Poultry is rich in vitamin B-6, which is necessary for the formation of RBC (Red Blood Cells). If you aren’t consuming chicken in any form (soup, stew, salad etc), then you are missing out on a lot. Chicken broth has chondroitin, gelatin, and other nutrients that stimulate your immunity.

These are just some of the foods that can help boost your immune. Just be sure to consume enough of them to help fight your sickness alongside your medication.

  2. Citrus fruits especially lemons and oranges are a great source of vitamin C that helps boost one's immune system when you feel down!
    Always take atleast one bulb each day even when you are healthy!
